Where Do I Send My Warranty?

If you live in Canada or the US, return the product to the location you purchased it from originally. If the product was purchased online directly from, please email for warranty instructions. Otherwise, the dealer is responsible to contact RFE on your behalf and will discuss your warranty case with us and a solution will be reached from there. For International customers, return the product back to the place of original purchase and they will work with the RFE Distributor in your area to reach a solution on your behalf.
DO NOT send product directly back to Race Face or Easton Cycling without having contacted your original dealer. Warranty returns need to be issued an RA# by an RFE warranty specialist. Any product shipment arriving at RFE without a proper RA# will be returned to sender.

Do I Need A Sales Receipt To Activate the RFE Warranty Coverage?

Yes, you will need to produce a proof of purchase for the product you want to have considered for RFE warranty coverage (either for the product directly or for the complete bike). The RFE warranty coverage is extended to the original owner of the Race Face or Easton Cycling product, so the proof of purchase helps to confirm your original ownership and authenticate the product itself.

My RFE Cranks Have A ‘Lifetime Warranty’ – How Long Is That?

The RFE Lifetime Warranty for specific alloy cranksets covers the product for the life of the product – not the customer’s lifetime. At some point MTB products made from aluminum will eventually experience a fatigue issue; the result of long-term use and limits of the material. As an innovative brand, we constantly endeavor to build products as strong and as durable as possible, but when an RFE product reaches the inevitable end of its usable life, it is not necessarily considered a warranty issue.

I Crashed While Riding My Mountain Bike And My RFE Product Was Damaged In The Crash – Is That Covered Under Warranty?

The short answer is no. The RFE warranty protects you from manufacturing defects and other related issues. It does not cover damage from normal use or crash situations. If your warranty concern is considered normal use or a crash situation, you should contact the dealer or distributor you purchased the product from to explore crash replacement options. If you purchased the product on, please contact with the subject line: Crash Replacement.

Do I Need A Special Tool To Remove My RFE Cinch Or Exi Cranks?

For the large majority of RFE cranks, a special puller tool is not required. The mid-high end spectrum of cranks (Cinch, EXI, and older X-Type interfaces) use a self-extracting puller cap system that allows for the removal of the drive side crank with only an 8mm Hex key wrench. For some of the mid to lower end EXI cranks (Evolve, Aeffect, Chester, Ride, and Respond) a standard crank puller tool for Spindled cranks like the Park CCP-44 is required for crank removal.

Which Bottom Bracket Do I Need To Pair With My Cranks And Bike Frame?

RFE manufactures bottom brackets and adapters that will allow you to set-up your cranks to most current frame standards. For cranks with 24mm diameter, we have BB solutions for BSA, BB92, BB30, and PF30; in various length options. For the 30mm diameter spindles, as found on most Cinch interface cranks, we have BB options for BSA30, PF30, and BB92. How Much Torque Is Required When Installing My RFE Cranks?

For the proper torque specs, crank bolts and other instruction, please find the installation sheet for your specific model of Race Face crank here, and for your specific model of Easton Cycling crank here. You can also look at the puller cap on the crankarm for torque specs as, in some cases, the toque spec info is printed there.

How Do I Change Out The 30mm Spindle On My Cinch System Crankset?

It is a fairly easy process. Simply swap the crank bolt and puller cap from the drive side, install it on the non-drive side and extract the cranks as you would from the drive side. Check out the Cinch 30mm Spindle Install Video here for a full rundown of the process.

Will RFE Bottom Brackets Work With Cranks from another brand?

In some cases yes! For cranks that use a 24mm diameter spindle (like Shimano) you can use Race Face ‘X-Type’ bottom brackets. For cranks with 30mm diameter spindle there is a possibility that you can use a RF 30mm bottom bracket – but it would need to be for a crankset that would be set-up on a frame that is BB92, BB89.5, or BSA30. If in doubt you can check BB compatibility with the manufacturer of your specific crankset.

Will Other Brands' Bottom Brackets Work With RFE Cranks?

In some cases yes! A Race Face crankset with a 24mm diameter spindle can work with a competitor's BB that is designed for 24mm spindles. For our 30mm spindled cranksets, there are some cases that other brands 30mm BB’s would be compatible – although sometimes an additional spacer kit would be required. What Tool Do I Need To Install A Race Face BB?

For RFE threaded X-Type BB’s (24mm spindle cranks) use the standard BB cup tool like the BBT-29 from Park. The RFE threaded BSA30 cups do need a different cup tool, like the one we have available, or there are alternate tools on the market like the BBT-79 from Park Tool. For the 24mm or 30mm RFE bottom brackets for press fit style frames (BB92/PF30/BB30) you can use a tool like the BBP-1 from Park.

Can I Run A Single Speed Set-Up On My RFE Crank?

YES! Any RFE MTB or Road crank can be set up as a 1x crank. If your crank uses the RFE Cinch interface, a direct mount single ring can be mounted. If your RFE crank has a traditional spider, choose a 1x ring with a Bolt Circle Diameter (BCD) that matches your spider. The BCD for your RFE crank will be listed in the Specs section on the product model page.

What Tool Do I Use To Change Out My Cinch Crank Ring Or Spider?

You use a standard 20t internal bottom bracket cup tool – like the BBT-22 from Park Tools.

Are All The Cinch Crank Small Parts Compatible With All Cinch Cranksets?

Yes and No – All Cinch Direct mount rings and bottom brackets are compatible with Race Face cranks using the Cinch system. There are some Cinch System crank bolts, spiders and puller caps that are specific to certain Cinch crank models. You can check for the specific Cinch part you are in search of in our Cinch Small Parts area or by calling us on 604.415.2350.

What Torque Should I Tighten My Cockpit Controls On My RFE Handlebar to?

You will need to refer to the manufactures install instructions for your handlebar controls – it should list torque values for the control levers.

Can I Put Bar Ends On My RFE Carbon Handlebars?

RFE do not recommend running bar ends on RFE carbon bars. Bar ends can cause unpredictable loads to be applied to the bar that can cause issues and maybe even bar failure. Running bar ends on your Race Face carbon bar will void any warranty coverage on the bar.

Why Does My Dropper Post Not Work Optimally During Temperature Extremes?

The Turbine / Haven Dropper posts are designed to automatically self-adjust to account for changes in air temperature. However, when riding in extreme hot or cold temperatures relative to where the bike is stored, the post may not always function optimally. In these cases you will need to do a quick manual equalize (or reset) of the post’s brake at riding temperature. To do this, first ensure your cable tension is set so there is a slight amount of free play at the lever (1-2mm). Next, push the lever all the way until you feel the cable stop and hold it there for a few seconds. If the cable does not bottom out before reaching the end of lever travel, you may need to increase cable tension with the barrel adjuster, or rotate the lever to clear other controls and try again. Finally, after equalizing the brake you may need to re-adjust cable tension to achieve 1-2mm of free play at the lever again.

Cinch Crank Maintenance

As with all new bikes and bike parts, a “bolt check” is always recommended after your first ride and Cinch cranks are no different. We strongly advise checking all fasteners before AND after your first ride, including the 16mm non-drive side crank bolt. Please refer to your installation manual for specific torque settings.

This limited warranty is only applicable to Race face carbon wheels purchased new from an authorized source, is made only to the original retail owner (consumer) of the new product, (as shown by original proof of purchase) and is not transferable to subsequent owners.
Should it be determined, by Race Face in its sole and final discretion, that a Race Face product is covered by this limited warranty, it will be repaired or replaced, by a comparable model, at Race Face’s sole option, which will be conclusive and binding. THIS IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY UNDER THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. This limited warranty gives the consumer specific legal rights. The consumer may also have other legal rights under the applicable national laws which are not affected by this limited warranty. If it is determined by a court of competent jurisdiction that a certain provision of this limited warranty does not apply, such determination shall not affect any other provision of this limited warranty and all other provisions shall remain in effect.


This limited warranty shall be governed exclusively by the laws of the State of California.

Power Meter FAQs

How can I find out if my bicycle is compatible with the cinch power meter?

CINCH Power Meter utilizes a 30mm spindle body with 129mm road spindle length and 134mm mountain spindle lengths available. Utilizing an Easton or Race Face BB compatibility guide can assist you in determining if your bicycle is compatible with the CINCH Power Meter.

How do I check if my battery is running low?

Utilizing the CINCH Power Meter App you can check battery levels on your CINCH Power Meter.

Is the cinch power meter waterproof?

The product is designed to provide excellent water resistance and tested to resist water penetration to the IPX7 standard (up to 1 meter). This provides outstanding water resistance for cycling conditions both off-road and on-road, including stream crossing, heavy rain and bike washing. Please keep in mind that electronic devices are inherently sensitive to water and that there are limits to the water resistance. Do not subject the product to direct spray from a high pressure sprayer. It is possible for water to be forced past the seals and damage to the electronics may occur.

Note: To help with protection of the antenna and ensure maximum water resistance please keep the antenna cap on and securely fastened at all times, except when charging.

Is the cinch power meter firmware upgradable?

Yes, the CINCH Power Meter firmware is easily upgraded via the CINCH Power Meter App. The CINCH Power Meter App is available for both Apple iOS and Android compatible devices.

Both applications connect to the power meter via Bluetooth®. The App utilizes your data or WiFi signal to indicate if a more recent firmware is available and asks if you would like to download and install it. Installation time will vary depending on Bluetooth connection but normally takes just a few minutes to complete. There is no need to remove the battery, do a zero reset or anything else, just update the firmware and you're ready to ride.

How long will the battery last?

The battery will last about approximately 400 hours of running time between charges.

Will I be alerted to a low battery condition on my power meter?

Many ANT+™ enabled head units display a low - battery warning when a sensor, such as the CINCH Power Meter, battery level drops below 10% remaining. Once this warning is displayed you still have approximately 10 hours of battery life left in the CINCH Power Meter. When the Low Battery Warning is displayed it is recommended that you recharge your CINCH Power Meter.

Can I replace the battery on the cinch power meter without sending it in?

The product contains a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, do not try to replace battery as this will void warranty and potentially damage the product.
The rechargeable Li-Ion Battery must be serviced by Race Face / Easton Cycling.
Please refer to local regulations regarding air transport of the power meter and Li-Ion batteries.

My power and cadence readings are zero, erratic, or not accurate?

There can be a number of easy to fix issues to double check before contacting service.
Confirm the CINCH Power Meter has been taken out of Airplane Mode.
Please check connectivity or positioning of your head unit – at times placement of the head unit can affect signal transmission.
The zero offset needs to be set. Utilize the instructions for calibrating CINCH Power Meter either using CINCH Power Meter App or the menu in your head unit.
The battery is almost empty – please confirm the CINCH Power Meter is fully charged.
Finally, there could be damage to the CINCH Power Meter circuit board or antenna.

What is calibration?

Calibration, also known as zeroing, is an important step in ensuring the accuracy of the power measurement generated by the CINCH Power Meter. Changes in bolt torque, crank configuration and a number of other factors can impact the calibration of a power meter. The purpose of zeroing/calibration is to align a zero measurement from the CINCH Power Meter with a real-world zero value where your power meter is in a static state.

There is no need to calibrate the CINCH Power Meter for every ride, but periodic calibration is recommended and especially after any mechanical changes to the crank such as changing pedals, chain rings, installation of the crank, tightening of bolts etc.

Calibration Process

  • Turn on the CINCH Power Meter (Achieved though turning the cranks).
  • Place the bike in the upright position and the left (non-drive) side crank arm pointing straight down (pedal closest to the ground). Do not put any weight on the pedals.
  • Using an ANT+ bike computer, follow the instructions for the bike computer to send the CALIBRATE command. Typically under Settings/Bike Profiles/Bike/ANT+ Power.
  • Using a smartphone connected through BLE, use the CINCH Power Meter app and select Calibrate in the menu.
  • Calibrate.

Can I change chainrings without affecting the output of my cinch power meter?

Though you can likely switch between 1x direct mount chainrings with little change, if swapping from 1x to our 2x shifting rings we recommend running a quick Calibration before you ride.

Can I physically open my cinch power meter?

No. This will destroy the Power Meter and void your warranty.

What cranks will work with these spindles?

Next SL G4, Next G3, Next R, Turbine.

What if my battery charge is not lasting?

Utilize the CINCH Power Meter App to confirm you have the latest firmware update. If you do, run the battery through a full cycle (run from full until empty) and charge fully again to see if this changes.
If there is no change in battery condition, please contact customer support.
Power meters run on a baseline, and the data they output is often relative to a number of conditions. Things that can change the power output: cold, wind, tire pressure. We can have our technician look at your data if you go to the upload area of the app.

Do I need a cadence sensor?

No, the CINCH Power Meter tracks cadence internally.

What kind of riding is cinch power meter rated for?

129mm Road Spindle is rated for Road, Tri, CX and light XC
134mm MTB Spindle is rated for XC, Trail and Enduro

What kind of metrics does my cinch power meter provide?

Power: This is the instantaneous power output typically measured in watts which is calculated by multiplying torque by cadence. Power data is transmitted to the head unit and 2 Hz (twice per second) with the maximum frequency of power display typically being every second.

Most ANT+™ enabled head units also have various power averaging and maximum power display options that are all based off this power number. Please refer to your head unit user manual for details.

Cadence: Cadence is measured by built-in accelerometers

Torque effectiveness: Indicates what percentage of your total pedal stroke power is being used to move the bike forward. The remaining percentage (100%-TEff) is the amount of pedal stroke power you are essentially wasting either by not completely lifting your leg on the upstroke or applying power in a useless direction (backwards). Values of 60-100% are typical. A value of 100% indicates that all of the power delivered on the pedal stroke was in the forward direction.

Pedal smoothness: Indicates how evenly power is being applied over one rotation of the crank. Values of 10-40% are typical. A lower value would indicate power is being applied quickly in only one part of the pedal stroke. A higher value indicates the power is being applied more evenly over a bigger range of the pedal stroke.
